Destranetwork: RPC naming through Destra DNS

Destra Network offers decentralized domain names for remote procedure call (RPC) endpoints. This alternative concerns domain control within the connection between an application and a blockchain node.

The boundary between naming and RPC infrastructure

An endpoint’s domain name and the server handling its requests are separate infrastructure dependencies. Destra’s Introduction to Destra Network identifies both dependencies when describing RPC connections between applications and blockchain nodes.

The decentralized-domain approach addresses control of the name used to reach the RPC endpoint. A decentralized name alone does not establish decentralized operation of the server or blockchain node behind it.

RPC naming checklist

  • If control of the endpoint’s domain name is the concern, consider Destra’s decentralized naming alternative.
  • If decentralization of request handling is the concern, assess the RPC server and blockchain node separately from naming.
